Precision, proven over 30 years

Kleindiek Nanotechnik is a German high-tech company based in Reutlingen. We are small, specialised and engineering-led — and our tools have become an industry standard inside electron microscopes around the world.

It started with one invention. In 1991, during his PhD at the University of Tübingen, Stephan Kleindiek invented the Nanomotor® — a compact drive that delivers sub-nanometer precision, very low drift and a large range of motion at once. That motor is still at the heart of every product we make.

More than three decades later, our micromanipulator has 2000+ units installed worldwide and is the reference for built-in (OEM) and add-on (retrofit) solutions, in partnership with major microscope makers. A wholly owned US subsidiary,Kleindiek Inc. (Pleasanton, California, since 2019), handles sales and support in the Americas, and a distributor network covers the UK, France, Japan, China, India and more.

We build for a demanding audience — semiconductor failure-analysis engineers, materials scientists and life scientists — who value evidence over adjectives. That is why we point to the peer-reviewed literature that independently validates what our tools can do.
